Oven Cola Pulled Pork
Making pulled pork is one of the few times I actually buy soda pop.
Recipe
7# pork shoulder
1 large diced onion
14-oz. can sweetened condensed milk
2 liter bottle Coca-Cola
1 tsp. chili flakes
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
1 tsp. garlic powder
Sauce
3 cups sauce from the pork
1 cup unseasoned rice wine vinegar
1 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. chili flakes
1 tsp. kosher salt
2 Tbsp. tomato paste
Preheat oven to 350˚
In a dutch oven, add 1 tablespoon oil and heat on medium high.
Sprinkle meat with salt, sear & brown meat on each side once the oil is hot.
Remove from pan and set aside.
Next saute onions in pan til browned and translucent.
Add the entire bottle of Coke. (do not use diet or flavored)
Stir in sweet condensed milk. Add garlic powder and chili flakes, stir all together.
Place meat carefully back into pot, cover and put in oven.
Bake in oven 4 hours.
